I decided to fabricate a doubler that would mount inside the tail cone. This gives me a solid piece to attach the filler piece to give me a flush look on the outside. Everything turned out very well. I still have to sand down the micro balloons that you see in the last photo. After sanding I will prime and sand multiple times until I achieve a perfectly smooth appearance.

I was about ready to attach this NACA vent when I realized that cut the hole to the contour of the vent. The fuselage side is supposed to cover the round opening. Now I have to come up with a suitable patch.
